Our history

Established for more than 20 years in the heart of Poitou-Charentes, we are specialized in the production of organic amendments and fertilizers formulated from animal and vegetable matter. Our formulations come in two forms: composts and plugs.

We offer not only products, but also consulting services to optimize the yields and quality of our customers' productions.

Supported by Akiolis

Supported by Akiolis, in 2013 we launched a new pellet manufacturing unit to complement our composting business. A new plant, opened in June with a production capacity of 32,000 tons of pellets per year, it is fully automated.

Thanks to the contribution of animal raw materials from Akiolis, we are able to offer products with a high concentration of nitrogen, particularly appreciated in organic farming.

Our business expertise

Our expertise covers all flows, from Upstream to Downstream: selection and collection of materials, preparation of composts and corks, transport and delivery to our customers.

We are part of Tessenderlo Group

Every Molecule Counts

Tessenderlo Group is driven by a bold and inspiring vision: We want to ensure that life on our planet will thrive by helping to create a world that makes the most of its resources. This vision entails growing more food than ever before, using water as intelligently as possible, tackling the world’s shortage of natural resources and creating value from bio-residuals.

We aim to fully understand what is happening in the world around us and ascertain how we can build the business of tomorrow by successfully addressing those issues. In order to achieve this objective we realize that we need to do things in new ways.

Behind everything we do lies a simple philosophy: Every Molecule Counts. This tagline defines our unique attitude to sustainability and practical innovation. It encompasses the power of an idea or action, however small, to change the world.

Tessenderlo Group continually strives to find more sustainable solutions. We thereby aim to minimize our ecological footprint and to maximize the contribution of our products in the evolution towards achieving a green economy. We offer various products and environmentally friendly solutions, in which we typically reclaim and transform by-products from other industries.

Whether it is in the products and solutions we supply or the way in which we produce them, the care we show towards our planet and its resources is at the very heart of all our businesses. This is because we believe that Every Molecule Counts.

2019 marked the 100th anniversary of Tessenderlo Group. To commemorate this impressive milestone, the group published a book and created a special website, highlighting 100 remarkable facts relating to the history of Tessenderlo: www.100yearstessenderlo.com.

Tessenderlo Group has a state-of-the-art R&D center in Belgium. We take advantage of this facility and the skills of the laboratory to improve the formulation and the physical and agronomic qualities of our finished products.

Sustainability at the core of our business

Taking the environment into account is part of our DNA. Our very activity is part of a circular economy logic since we valorize animal and plant by-products from agricultural and agri-food activities into organic fertilizers.

Beyond this contribution to sustainable agricultural development, we work to limit the impact of our various processes on the environment and to produce renewable energy.

  • Modern processes that place energy savings at the heart of our priorities
  • Photovoltaic panels and wind turbine allowing the production of 1MW covering the energy consumption of a town of 1000 inhabitants
  • Waste sorting and recovery in appropriate channels
  • Integration of our industrial facilities in a landscaped environment thanks to a plan to plant local trees and shrubs
  • Daily actions: recycling of office paper which is shredded and incorporated into the poultry breeding litter, encouragement to carpooling....

This state of mind is carried by the whole Violleau® team, making the company grow in a global approach of economic, environmental and societal responsibility.

It is in this same state of mind that Violleau® supports the recycling of packaging waste via SOVEEA and the collection ADIVALOR VIOLLEA.

Violleau® is also an associate member of COMIFER (French Committee for the Study and Development of Reasoned Fertilization).
